This activity started at 9am with a word of welcome from the Divisional Delegate of MINEDEP, who spoke on the importance of proper waste management and environmental sustainability. she asked a few questions on how we can properly dispose of our waste and encouraged households to separate perishable from non perishable before throwing in the bin and discouraged the disposal of wastes through streams or lakes for it only contaminates the water, prevents the proper flow of water and the waste dumped in water sometimes ends up in the sea which comes back to the communities during floods which could lead to death, diseases like malaria, typhoid, or even cholera.it also fills the gutters and prevents the proper passage of water. The secretary of MINEDEP appreciated both organizations for partnering with them to do beach cleaning and encouraged other Organizations to do same for the good of our community. Both organizations inclusive the representatives of MINEDEP took pictures together and cleaned the beach together which ended at 2:30pm.
